STERLING POKER

Earning Big in Online Poker

Several players fail to make it big in online poker, most of the time because of employing wrong strategies. Often this is because of failing to take advantage of the virtual environment, and treating the online terrain as something similar to brick and mortar poker. However, a certain aspect of online poker could be exploited in order to have more possibilities of winning, and therefore earning big.

The said aspect is the feature of online poker that allows a player to play several tables at once. Playing several tables at once means that you are able to put more money and therefore have a chance to earn more, without risking too much.

Think about it: playing only at a single table means that once you hit an unlucky spot and is joined by a really good player, then you are sure to be on the way to bankruptcy. That is also true for having a streak of really bad hands.

Playing several games at once would minimize the effect of unlucky streaks or competing with really good players. Having a really good player at one table means a great possibility of loss, but since you are also playing at other tables, this loss could easily be earned back. Also, because you draw more cards, you increase the probability of drawing really good hands.

However, if you are new to online poker, do not immediately go into playing several tables at once. Playing simultaneously at several tables requires certain skills, and several considerations. It would be good to practice first through playing at minimum bet games, that is, games that allow even bets of one cent.

A natural consequence of playing several tables at once is that you focus less on your opponent's behavior. This might seem as something negative, but upon further consideration, it will really be much simpler: you only need to focus on your own behavior. This means that you should concentrate on creating your table image, and luring your opponents into acting according to this created image.

For example, playing passively - that is, frequent call, checks, and slow-plays - would naturally lure your opponents into playing warily with you. It would be easier therefore to bluff, since they would be hesitant to bet against you. Since you are only concentrating on creating a single table image across all tables, then you are sure to be more focused on the game and less distracted by other players' behavior.

Also consider that since you are playing at several tables, then you need to put in more money. In order to minimize your losses at online poker, only play at mid-range games, and never at high-stakes tables. High-stakes tables might seem tempting, especially if you could afford it; but because of the high risk these tables have, it is much better for you to be totally focused when playing at them.

Remember, to earn big in online poker, one need to take advantage of aspects inherent to its medium, one of which is playing several tables at once. Practice first with this strategy through playing at low-bet tables, and you'll surely be on the way to making it bigger than your brick and mortar counterparts.
