WSOP Poker Placer Reacts To Police Search
Less than a month after amassing $2.8 million at the World Series of Poker and in turn being a favored son of San Antonio, Richard Lee is now being viewed in an unflattering light.
The civic-minded poker star's Shavano Park house was searched and some of his property were seized, including five Lexus cars, multiple plasma-screen TVs, a money counting machine and large amounts of cash, according to San Antonio police spokesperson Joe Rios.
"Just a few hours ago I was one of San Antonio's favorite sons," Lee said, sitting outside his home Wednesday morning, Aug 30. "It seems like maybe I've gone from hero to zero in the course of a few hours."
Police had obtained a search warrant for Lee's home in the 100 block of Geddington Street on the suspicion of illegal gambling operations. No one was arrested in the search.
Lee meanwhile declined to give comment on his online activities, saying that no official allegations has been made against him. However, he pointed out that he is not aware of doing anything illegal.
"I don't believe I've done anything wrong, and if they prove differently on something I thought was OK, well, I guess I'm going to have to cross that bridge when I get to it," he said.
